Our clay pit

Where does our clay come from?

We extract the clay from our own clay pit in Reckendorf. The pit is located directly next to our production hall.
In the past, roof tiles and bricks were produced. Today, we produce sustainable Terra Forma® clay products (see "our products"). Before we produce our Terra Forma clay products, the clay from the pit is first "left to the four seasons". The mined clay experiences sun and frost, which produces a high quality.

Our Terra Forma® clay production

How are our clay products made?

Our Terra Forma® clay building materials are now produced in our former brickworks hall. We obtain the raw clay from our own clay pit.

For our Terra Forma® clay products, the clay is processed in several steps and dried with sun and wind. The dried clay is crushed and sieved. The clay is then thoroughly mixed with various natural additives, depending on the intended use, and packaged.

In the Terra Forma® clay brick production, the clay is wet-mixed in the pan mill, ground and crushed in the rolling mill. The prepared clay is formed by our extrusion press and the appropriate mouthpiece. The cutter cuts the bricks to the desired size. The clay bricks are then air-dried. We produce different application classes of clay bricks.

Terra Forma®

What does Franconian have to do with the brand name Terra Forma®?

Terra (Latin) means earth - and what can you do with clay/earth? You can shape it. In Franconian: forma I.e. Forma (Franconian) describes the verb form (shaping with clay). This is how the brand name Terra Forma came about.

We are committed to the environment

How do you implement environmentally friendly working practices in a company? This is exactly the question we have asked ourselves as the focus of our company philosophy.

  • Short supply chains

Our production facility is right next to our clay pit, so the short distance eliminates long

Transport routes. We source aggregates such as sand and chopped straw locally.

  • Electricity

The production of our Terra Forma® clay products is exclusively generated by photovoltaic electricity.

The system is located in our production hall.

  • Upcycling

For our Terra Forma production we have our own product range with upcycling products.

  • Brickworks chimney

We have stopped the production of the "fired goods" and our chimney now offers the storks a new

At home.

  • Clay pits

We leave our old clay pits entirely to nature and give them back to Mother Earth.

Wild bees, ants, frogs, herbs and plants and much more.

Our office

Since January 6th, 2023 you can find us in our new sales office.
Good things take time. From 2017 to 2023, we renovated an old building from 1860 in a sustainable and ecological way into our new sales office.

Our exhibition house

In the exhibition hall you can see our Terra Forma® clay products in use. We will be happy to advise you on how to renovate, build, insulate, heat and much more with our Terra Forma® clay products.
You will also find an exhibition of ecological and sustainable building products for a wide range of uses in construction. We look forward to your visit.

Götz Brickworks

The history of our company

The company location can look back on a 250-year history. The company has been family-owned since 1840.
Over the course of history, the production and delivery range has changed considerably. In 1850, roof tiles were still being manufactured, but production has now expanded from roof tiles to backing bricks, thermoporous bricks and now Terra Forma® clay building materials.

In 1998, the production of the "fired goods" was discontinued.
At the end of the 20th century, we decided to produce clay building materials because of their ecological and sustainable properties. We also offer seminars and workshops on the subject of clay.
Our clay products are marketed under the registered brand name Terra Forma.

Gabriele Götz has been the owner since the end of 2012
