Information:
Rammed earth is one of the oldest clay building techniques. Due to its artistic expressiveness and, above all, sustainable properties, this technique is experiencing a comeback.
Rammed earth consists of building clay and additives such as sand, gravel or chippings. By using different colored sands and clay, each rammed wall becomes unique.
Rammed earth as a wall construction.
Wall: The clay is placed in layers, approximately 10-15 cm thick, in a suitable formwork and mechanically compacted. Commercially available large-area formwork systems and slip formwork, such as those used in concrete construction, can be used as formwork. Manual tamping devices, but also electric or pneumatic compactors can be used to compact the clay layers.
Rammed earth is also used in flooring.
Due to our humid climate, external walls must be additionally protected against rising moisture from the building ground (capillary effect) as well as moisture penetrating from above.

Rammed earth floors can also be used in covered outdoor areas.
